Several explosions were heard at the site today where Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov was killed by a car bomb on Monday, the news agency reported quoting Baza and SHOT Telegram channels.
According to witnesses, a car detonated, Baza and SHOT, which have sources in Russia’s law enforcement agencies, reported.
Soon after the blast, Russia opened a criminal case, the country’s State Investigative Committee stated.
Reuters was not able to independently verify the reports. There is no official confirmation from Russian authorities about the incident yet.

56-year-old Sarvarov, head of the Operational Training Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces’ General Staff died from the injuries after the bomb went off in his car on Monday, AP had reported quoting Russia’s Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko.
