(Photo: X/ @China_Navy) China’s military is holding drills around Taiwan on Monday after it dispatched air, navy and rocket troops to conduct joint military drills and highlight seizure and blockade of island’s key areas as a “stern warning” by Beijing against “separatist forces”.
The Taiwanese aviation authority has said that Chinese military drills around the island would affect more than 100,000 international travellers as flight cancellations and diversions could take place, AP reported.
The Taiwan administration said that they have placed their forces on alert amid military drills by China and called the Chinese government “the biggest destroyer of peace.”

The Chinese military said that the army, navy and air force have been dispatched for the drills which include live fire exercises. The two-day drill comes after Chinese authorities expressed their disagreement over arms sales by the United States to Taiwan, followed by a statement by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who said that the Japanese military could get involved in the action if China were to take any sort of action against Taiwan.

However, the Chinese military did not mention Taiwan in their statement. Beijing considers Taiwan as part of its own territory and claims that the self-governing island must come under its rule.
Taiwan’s government condemned China’s military drills, dubbed “Justice Mission 2025”, and accused Beijing of “military intimidation”. The island nation’s defence ministry said it was “fully on guard” and would “take concrete action to defend the values of democracy and freedom.”

In a post on X, Taiwan’s defence ministry said, “The Chinese Communist Party’s targeted military exercises further confirm its nature as an aggressor and the biggest destroyer of peace.”
The live-firing drill is poised to continue on Tuesday across the seven zones designated by China’s Maritime Safety Administration, which makes the drill largest till date in total coverage and far closer to Taiwan than previous exercises, Reuters reported.
