A 10-year-old boy was reportedly stabbed to death at a school in Russia’s Moscow Region, with initial reports suggesting the attack was carried out by an older student. According to RT, the suspect recorded the incident on video.
The attacker, said to be a senior student at the same school in the town of Gorky-2, appeared to have planned the assault. Footage shows him donning tactical-style clothing and arming himself inside a washroom before moving through the school.
Slogans seen on his helmet included a quote linked to the perpetrator of the 2015 mass shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. He was also wearing a black vest bearing the nihilistic phrase “No Lives Matter”.
What the video shows
According to the RT report, the video captures the attacker walking through school corridors, making disparaging remarks about himself and seemingly looking for a specific classroom. He is then seen being confronted by a security guard, whom he allegedly pepper-sprayed and stabbed. The footage further shows him chasing a younger student and stabbing the child multiple times.
Local authorities said the victim died on the spot and confirmed that the suspect has been detained. RT said the video had circulated among students and was obtained from a pupil’s family. The clip ends shortly after the stabbings.
Images shared by Russian media purportedly show the suspect and his equipment, including a helmet carrying white supremacist, anti-Semitic and Islamophobic slogans in both Russian and English. In the video, he is also heard asking a class about their ethnicity.
