An unbeaten 160 off 101 balls from Dhruv Jurel helped Uttar Pradesh defeat Baroda by 54 runs in a Group B clash of the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy campaign at the Sanosara Cricket Ground A in Rajkot on Monday. The 24-year-old, who has been batting at number three in the competition, walked out to bat in the 15th over and stayed right till the end, powering his side to 369/7 after 50 overs.
Jurel put on 131 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Rinku Singh, who made 63 off 67 balls. Prashant Veer gave the innings a late impetus, making 35 off 23 balls.
In reply, captain Krunal Pandya put in a valiant effort with a 77-ball 82 and was supported by opener Shashwat Rawat, who made 60 off 69 balls. But none of the batters could play the big knock required to chase down such a massive score, and they eventually were all out for 315 runs.

Abhilash, Shrijith take Karnataka home
Abhilash Shetty’s 4/57 and KL Srijith’s 77 off 78 balls helped Karnataka defeat Tamil Nadu by four wickets in a Group A clash at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad. Shrijith’s 116-run stand for the fifth wicket with captain Mayank Agarwal, who made 58 off 77 balls, set the foundation for the 289-run chase. All-rounder Shreyas Gopal also made 55 off 47 balls as Karnataka chased down the score with 17 balls to spare.
Tamil Nadu’s loss triggered a reaction from former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, who said that Karnataka had rebuilt well with the likes of Gopal and Karun Nair, while TN had a lot of answering to do.
“Karnataka and Tamil Nadu is a contest of keen interest amongst followers of domestic cricket. This year Karnataka have managed to trump TN in the Vijay Hazare following their big win in the SMAT. Karnataka seems to have rebuilt well and have utilised the experience of Shreyas Gopal and Karun Nair to a nicety. The chances of TN qualifying from here on is bleak and leaves us with a lot of questions to answer. Personnel change is not the only solution, there is loads of talent available and how they will be given stability and direction is the key,” Ashwin wrote on X.

Ghosh’s 7-fer goes in vain
Maharashtra pacer Ramakrishna Ghosh claimed 7/42, but could not prevent his side from going down by seven runs to Himachal Pradesh (HP) in a Group C clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. Pukhraj Mann’s 110 off 111 balls was the architect of HP reaching 271 all out in 49.4 overs. In reply, Ankit Bawne’s 97 off 120 balls kept Maharashtra in the hunt, but none of the other batters got to a fifty-plus score, and two wickets apiece for Rohit Kumar, Aryaman Dhaliwal and Mridul Surroch helped HP seal a close win.
