Asia Cup 2025 Super 4 Standings: India inched closer to the Asia Cup 2025 final berth after thwarting Pakistan for a second successive time within a week, recording a six-wicket victory to open the Super 4 stage.
Batting first, Pakistan racked up 171 for five on the board before India romped home comfortably on the back of a century partnership between Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Pakistan were left to rue their inability to amp up the scoring rates despite receiving a stable platform up front with the bat, scoring over 90 in the first half. The chase was laid out by a prolific stand by Punjab superstars Abhishek and Gill. While Gill played largely within his range, Abhishek went hammer and tongs, unleashing a flurry of six fours and five sixes.
With his fourth successive 30-plus score in the tournament, Abhishek also topped the batting charts with 173 runs at a jaw-dropping 200-plus target. Though skipper Suryakumar Yadav subsequently fell for a duck, India’s chase was closed out by Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya in the 19th over.
The win ensured India took the top spot after a round of games in the Super Four stage, with Bangladesh placed second following their thrilling triumph over Sri Lanka. While Pakistan will take on Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, India will take on Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in their forthcoming games in Dubai on Wednesday and Friday.
