The US Department of Justice has clarified that a letter purportedly written by Jeffrey Epstein to another convicted sex offender, Larry Nassar, is fake. The letter, which is said to have been written the day before Epstein’s death, was among the thousands of documents released by the DOJ under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
In the letter, Epstein stated that he has taken the ‘short route’ home and pointed out their ‘shared love and caring for young ladies’.
Nassar, the former doctor for the USA Gymnastics women’s national team, is currently serving multiple sentences for sexually abusing hundreds of young athletes.
The letter then goes on to mention Trump, though not by this name.
“Our president shares our love of young, nubile girls. When a young beauty walked by he loved to “grab snatch, whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the system,” it said.

After the letter created an uproar, the DOJ said in a social media post that it was looking into its validity.
DOJ says letter is fake
Later, the DOJ said the FBI had confirmed that the alleged letter is fake.
“The fake letter was received by the jail, and flagged for the FBI at the time. The FBI made this conclusion based on the following facts:
-The writing does not appear to match Jeffrey Epstein’s.

-The letter was postmarked three days after Epstein’s death out of Northern Virginia, when he was jailed in New York.
-The return address did not list the jail where Epstein was held and did not include his inmate number, which is required for outgoing mail,” it said.

Earlier, on Wednesday, the DOJ, while announcing the release of more Epstein documents, had claimed that some of them contained untrue and sensationalist claims made against Trump.
