Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, who’s on a five-day Germany tour, visited the BMW manufacturing plant in Munich. He said he was proud to see Indian engineering on foreign soil and that the declining Indian manufacturing sector should go up.
“Had the chance to experience BMW’s world in Munich, Germany with a guided tour of BMW Welt and the BMW Plant – an incredible look at world-class manufacturing up close. A highlight was seeing TVS’s 450cc motorcycle, developed in partnership with BMW. Proud moment to see Indian engineering on display,” Gandhi said.
The Indian Overseas Congress posted a video of his visit to the plant.

He, however, added that manufacturing is on the decline in India and that the nation needs better ecosystems to promote the sector. “Manufacturing is the backbone of strong economies. Sadly, in India, manufacturing is declining. For us to accelerate growth, we need to produce more – build meaningful manufacturing ecosystems, and create high-quality jobs at scale,” Gandhi said.
Rahul Gandhi’s Germany visit comes amid the Parliament’s Winter Session. The BJP has targeted the Congress over this, calling Gandhi a “non-serious politician”. The Congress hit back, pointing at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s five-day foreign tour at the same time. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra said PM Modi spent half his working time abroad.
