IPL 2026 PBKS Retained and Released Players List: With the Punjab Kings reaching the final in the last edition of the IPL, this year might be rare year that they don’t go for a complete squad overhaul. Last year for the mega auctions, Punjab had released every player but Shashank Singh and Prabhsimran Singh and entered the auctions with a fat purse. This time around, they aren’t likely to spend on many players with rumblings suggesting that they might op to bring Cameron Green in. They’ll be facing a lot of competition for the allrounder, especially from Kolkata Knight Riders who are also scouting him. So in order to facilitate that, PBKS might be forced to release Glenn Maxwell, whose IPL form has tailed off over the last couple of seasons and Marcus Stoinis. Rumours also suggest that to bring Green in, they might release Yuzvendra Chahal and buy him back from the auction pool but he is unlikely to come cheap.

What are the rules of IPL retentions?

When there is a mega auction, there is a limit to the number of players, be it overseas or the Indians, that the squads can retain. But this time around, as it is not a mega auction, teams can retain around as many players as they wish to. Despite the flexible rules, the franchises need to have 25 players, and the purse for each franchise will be around 120 crores.
