The Indian Heaven’s Premier League (IHPL), a private T20 cricket tournament in Srinagar, ended abruptly in scandal when its organizers, the Yuva Society Mohali, allegedly fled the city on November 2nd, leaving behind a massive trail of unpaid dues. Over 50 players, including former international stars like Praveen Kumar, were stranded at their hotel due to an uncleared bill reportedly worth Rs 51 lakh, with news spreading that prominent foreign players like Chris Gayle and Jesse Ryder had already left. Police have registered a case against the organizers for cheating and criminal breach of trust after the tournament, which was not sanctioned by the BCCI, collapsed midway, leaving players, officials, and vendors unpaid and damaging the region’s sporting reputation.
