According to the Israeli military, the individuals had crossed into an area designated for Israel’s initial troop withdrawal under the US-brokered ceasefire — a move it said violated the terms of the agreement.
The latest violence came a day after Hamas released the last living Israeli captives from Gaza and Israel freed hundreds of Palestinian detainees as part of the ceasefire deal. US President Donald Trump hailed the exchanges as marking the end of the two-year-long war that has reshaped the Middle East.
